The University of Lynchburg (UL) is a private university associated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and located in Lynchburg, Virginia. It has approximately 2,800 undergraduate and graduate students. The university's campus spans 264 acres.
The University of Lynchburg's Music program offers students a comprehensive education in music, exploring theory, history, and performance. Students engage with music through various courses and practical experiences, including participation in ensembles, performances, and recitals that enrich campus life. While the undergraduate music major and music education major are being phased out for new students as part of a strategic restructuring announced in May 2024, currently enrolled students will be able to complete their degrees. The university plans to establish a performing arts consortium with local arts organizations to provide ongoing performance opportunities. Music has historically been a significant component of the university's commitment to a well-rounded education, adapting over time to incorporate contemporary approaches in education and performance.
